While My Guitar Gently Weeps, the song.

This is MF&TG’s acoustic-cover of George Harrison’s (of The Beatles-fame) 1968 pop-rock hit “While My Guitar Gently Weeps”—the most popular of his contribution to the Beatles’ cause, for which Eric Clapton (George’s friend) played the lead guitar (mimicking the electric guitar’s weeping sound) in the original version of this song.

Stories have it that George often had to fight to get his songs on the Beatles-albums. John Lennon and Paul McCartney were not interested in this song at first but turned around when George brought along Eric to the studio. Its lyrics are being provided below, and more facts about this song and the artist(s) can be viewed by clicking their respective live-links.

Lyrics

“While My Guitar Gently Weeps”

(Intro)
I look at you all see the love there that’s sleeping
While my guitar gently weeps
I look at the floor and I see it needs sweeping
Still my guitar gently weeps.
(Coda)
I don’t know why nobody told you
How to unfold your love
I don’t know how someone controlled you
They bought and sold you.
I look at the world and I notice it’s turning
While my guitar gently weeps
With every mistake we must surely be learning
Still my guitar gently weeps.
(Adlib-Intro)
(Coda)
I don’t know how you were diverted
You were perverted too
I don’t know how you were inverted
No one alerted you.
I look at you all see the love there that’s sleeping
While my guitar gently weeps
I Look at you all see the love there that’s sleeping
Still my guitar gently weeps.

(Adlib-Intro & Fade, then end)
